Rating Apprenticeships and Other Rating Training
These webpages provide Rating Apprenticeship and Rating training information for employers, colleges and training organisations. There are two routes to being trained as a Rating. The apprenticeship route is where the trainee is an employee, earning a wage and working alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. The apprentice will also attend college, usually in blocks for training and work towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Other routes to working on a ship as a rating also exist, which involve basic safety training, achieving a watch rating certificate and other industry required certification. This is often specific to different shipping companies and further information will be provided as soon as possible.
